About

Thanks for stopping by.  This is just a little about myself and my cooking style so you can get to know me a bit better.  My passion is creating, cooking and sharing healthy, delicious, quick and easy recipes with others. I also love baking healthier treats by swapping in good choices for the not so good ones. I agree with the 80/20 rule. If you eat healthy 80% of the time, then the other 20% you get to be just a little sinful!

I hope to share some every day recipes and tips with you that will help make your life just a bit easier.  I understand how hectic life is especially if you have a family with little ones.  Most of my recipes are fairly quick to make.  My recipes basically range anywhere from 20 mins to 3 hrs if you are making my Simple Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup.  Most of that, of course, is simmering time for the homemade broth.

I cook with as much fresh, organic food as possible and incorporate lots of fruits, vegetables, fiber and antioxidants in my meals.  I am all for making meals with less "bad" fat, less sugar and less sodium.  I never use trans fats in my recipes or hydrogenated oils.  Recipes contain lean protein choices like chicken, fish and lean ground beef.  I enjoy using nuts, seeds, beans and lentils.

I never use sugar because it has no nutritional value.  If a recipe calls for sweetness I like to use the following organic products:  agave nectar, green leaf stevia (not the processed white stuff), pure 100% maple syrup or honey.  My recipes use these items so I'd like for you to use them, however, if you don't have them on hand you can use what you have.

I also believe in starting your children off eating healthy foods from an early age.  That way they grow up knowing and liking these foods which is better for their overall health.  Also, try letting your child pick out a vegetable to try for dinner or for their lunch.  They will be more inclined to eat it if they helped pick it out.  The same goes for if they help you in the kitchen, whether it's helping you with the cooking or just stirring something or setting the table.  These things instill good habits among young children that they will continue for the rest of their lives and, trust me, they will thank you when they are older.

No matter how busy life is there is always time to eat healthy meals.  I don't agree with diets because they don't work.  I do, however, agree with a lifestyle change that can benefit your whole body and give you happiness for many years to come.

Again, thanks for checking out my blog and I hope you enjoy the healthy recipes and tips.  Take care!
